Sinless City

We are back from a very un-Vegas Vegas weekend. We did spend a few hours poolside enjoying beers in the sun, but the majority of the trip consisted of family time. My big bro's intimate and lovely wedding reception Saturday and Jash's grandma's 93rd bday dinner on Sunday. No late nights, no big wins. In fact, we fell asleep at 9:30 while watching Dateline on the iPad on our last night. I should be eligible for the senior citizen discount. Here's a photo medley of our wild weekend...

International Bubblegum

Weirdest post title ever. Qui? Si? Any post picturing Bazooka Joe colored anything ought to include bubblegum in its title and the confused nationality of my overall look sparked the "international" reference.

Now that that's settled...our early morning drive to Vegas has turned into a late afternoon drive. Thought I'd lay low last night but ended up going to a pleasant little art gathering at Reform School in Silverlake. Every single thing I picked up in the store made me smile. I was particularly tickled by their comical "I'm Sorry" greeting cards. I don't have anything to apologize for at the present moment, otherwise I'd have picked one up.

aaand I'm off. Have a fabulous weekend!!

Sister From Another Mister

Fabiana is in town!! Hurrah! A post-bar, pre-career L.A. vacay. We've had a lovely time trying to impress one another with cool outfits and bouncing around the city giggling like little girls along the way. Some Fabi-fashion I plan on copy-catting: scarf braided into hair (see below), big leather bow in an updo, rainbow bright vintage beaded bracelet assortment, and scarves as belts. Girl loves her accessories...

Jash and I are off to Vegas early tomorrow morning for my big brother's stateside wedding reception (he got married in Paris). I'm happy to be going for a purpose other than gambling and dancing at douchy nightclubs. What happens in Vegas doesn't have to stay there this trip. I'm so looking forward to a nice desert drive with my man and hanging with family (old and new!!).

Happy Friday & happy weekend to you all!!

Vroom Vroom

Ok. I never actually wore this outfit outside. I put it on while Jash was prepping the motorcycle for an attempted afternoon ride through the Angeles Crest mountains. I got a "you're wearing that??" the minute he walked back in the apartment. See, this is my idea of how a Harley owner's girlfriend should dress. Unfortunately, sheer silk rompers and high heel booties are painfully unpractical while actually on a bike- particularly on long mountain rides. What I reluctantly changed into was far more sensible and thus far less exciting. Let's all just pretend I wore this on the scenic ride that we never actually took (my tush was too sore to make it any further than Mornings/Nights for coffee. Gonna have to get me a ButtyBuddy if I wanna keep up with this whole biker-chick thing)

Birds of Hollywood

I headed West once again last night only this time it wasn't on the Harley. Nope, just me and Dani in her Pontiac in search of a decent Taco Tuesday. There are surprisingly few on the East side. Guess there's no need with all the competitively priced taco trucks. Wore my favorite new boots with my favorite old sweater. I feel like myself when I'm wearing this good 'ol awkward fitting striped thing. I don't know if that makes any sense, but I do know that nothing feels better than putting it on after a crazy or bad L.A. night. There's something utterly grounding about a fave sweater. They also help tone down borderline hoochie cut-off shorty shorts....

Also, my fabulous San Fran friend, Toune, did a sweet little post on yours truly...check it out on her charming blog My Daily Mode :) (I can finally cross off number three on my wish list!!)

Living The Americana Dream

Turns out I'm not alone in my recent obsession with Americana....Jash got a Harley!! He actually got it a couple weeks ago but I was waiting for the right time to share. I wore the most motorcycle friendly poncho on our Sunday afternoon outing so this is as good a time as any. It has been fantastic. We are both so much more eager to go out and try new things since getting to the location is now part of the fun (hence our adventure into Hollywood on Saturday night). And I'm not even going to try and hide the fact that I feel really really cool on the back of a bike. C'mon- who wouldn't?! I hope the novelty never fades...

I don't think I've ever seen him smile this big. Sheer joy.

Yup. Bedazzled my helmet. obvi.

So this poncho is actually an embroidered table cloth I found for fifty cents on last Saturday's garage sale hunt. I dyed it purple with some Rit dye, folded it in half and cut a half circle for my neck. I'm not fully convinced that it doesn't still look like I'm wearing a table cloth. Don't matter because stretching my arms out in this bad boy while speeding down a hill on the Harley- awesome. I felt like I had wings. I bought 4 different table cloths at said garage sale so looks like this is my new weird thing. Bear with me :)

Street

Jash and I were feeling adventurous on Saturday night so we did something we never ever do on our own accord....we headed West and had dinner in Hollywood. We are normally far too lazy to make that trek and end up eating down the street at Masa, ordering the same 'ol thing we always get. But we took some friendly advice and tried out Street. Good food, nice atmosphere, tiny portions. It's a tapas-style place which means you'll be hitting up the taco truck after you leave. Which is fine by me since any night that ends with a taco truck trip is a good night in my book. This is what I wore...
